Jaljeera powder is a refreshing Ayurveda energy drink. Jaljeera or Jaljira is a refreshing, traditional Indian summer drink with health benefits. Jaljira not only quenches your thirst but also increases your appetite and aids in digestion .Jaljeera literally translates to ‘cumin water’ but there is more to this drink than just roasted cumin seeds. This refreshing Ayurveda energy drink has herbs and spices that go into its making that have a cooling effect on the body and revive one’s appetite.  During the summer months, it’s a common sight to find street vendors selling jaljeera in earthen pots (matka) which help to keep it cool.

How to prepare Jaljeera Healthy Ayurvedic Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 bunch Mint Leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 3 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sendha Namak
  • 1 teaspoon dry mango powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cup Water
  • 1 bunch coriander leaves
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon black salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 pinch asafoetida
  • 1 handful boondi

How to make Jaljeera drink

  1. Dry roast the asafoetida for a few seconds till fragrant. Grind asafoetida, mint Leaves, ginger and coriander leaves in blender to fine paste.
  2. Add 4 cups of chilled water, black salt, rock salt, salt, mango powder and sugar and cumin powder.
  3. Add lemon juice. Stir well the mixture. Pass through Strainer to remove the ginger remains.
  4. Server chilled garnished with boondi. You can also decorate with lemon and mint leaves.
